European vehicle production up 15% over 9 months in 2010
Brussels 23/12/2010 - Total vehicle production in the EU rose by 15% in the first nine months of 2010 compared to the same period in 2009.
Alliance: Shifting gears for a new industrial policy
Brussels 26/02/2010 – The Alliance for a Competitive European Industry (ACEI) has called for a new industrial partnership between the EU and its major industries. In its Manifesto, entitled “Shifting Gears for a New Industrial Policy”, the ACEI stresses what needs to be done so that manufacturing industry can remain one of the engines of the economy.
Fleet renewal schemes in 2010
February 2010 - Up-to-date, thirteen EU countries have put a fleet renewal programme in place, including market incentives and car scrapping schemes, to soften the impact of the recession. European automakers have supported these measures as a way to help bridge the economic downturn.
EU-South Korea Free Trade Agreement
The European automotive industry is not against the FTA with South Korea, but opposes the current conditions of the agreement, as they go against interest of major European industries and their workforce
Why is the European automobile industry so important?
The European automobile industry plays a pivotal role in Europe’s economy, driving wide-scale industrial activity, boosting investment and innovation, bolstering economic growth.
Automotive production sites
The automobile industry operates 292 vehicle assembly and engine production plants in Europe, including the EU27 and a number of neighbouring countries, such as Russia, Ukraine and Turkey. The 15 ACEA members operate in 25 countries with a total of 202 plants, producing passenger cars, light commercial vehicles or vans, buses and coaches, medium sized and heavy duty trucks and engines.
European Automobile Industry Report 09/10
The European Automobile Manufacturers’ Association ACEA has published, the European Automobile Industry Report 09/10 and the accompanying leaflet Automobile & Society – State of Affairs, Priorities for the Future. In its dialogue with policy makers, the European automobile industry focuses on four main areas: environment, mobility, market and economy, and the regulatory framework.
