ACEA endorses RESPONSE Code of Practice for Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS)
The EU project ‘RESPONSE 3’ has drafted a European Code of Practice (CoP) as a guideline for the development and validation of special Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS).
Auto industry supports harmonisation of safety regulation
The European auto industry welcomes the simplifying of safety regulation as a matter of principle, but cautions that it is unclear at this stage if the proposals of the European Commission, published on 23 May, will achieve that goal.
European automobile industry signs European Road Safety Charter
ACEA has signed the European Road Safety Charter in November 2006, in support of the ambitious EU community goal to reduce the number of casualties in road accidents by 50% in 2010.
Directive recognises importance of making roads safer
The European Parliament adopted the proposal for a “Directive on Safe Road Infrastructure Management” on June 19, 2008. Parliament declared that “in recent years, major advances have been made in vehicle design (safety measures and the development and application of new technologies) which have helped to reduce the number of people killed or injured in road accidents.” The EP stresses that action is now needed in other areas as well, such as making roads safer.
