Better roads means less pollution

Essentially, it argues that technology and new techniques enable us to build better roads - and to better maintain existing road - delivering environmental benefits. SINTEF, the largest independent research organisation in Scandinavia, has produced supporting evidence from a micro-simulation suggesting that better and more effective infrastructure can cut emissions. Upgrading a narrow and winding low traffic road to a modern two lane strip yielded a 75% drop in NOx and 11% in CO2.
