Commission makes sound assessment of Block Exemption Regulation
The European Commission has recently evaluated competition in the automotive sector and the role of the automotive Block Exemption Regulation (BER). Car manufacturers share the Commission’s view that competition on the markets for motor vehicle distribution and servicing has intensified, and that the functioning of the internal market in the automotive sector has improved considerably in recent years. They also agree that there are currently no real indications of market failure or actual or potential consumer harm in the automotive sector that would distinguish motor vehicles from other economic sectors.
