ACEA Freight Transport Event - Matching the Transport Challenges - 10 December 2008

On December 10, politicians, logistics and transport experts explored how the economic efficiency of freight transport can be maximised while minimising its environmental impact.

In particular, they discussed the introduction of new technologies, improving fuel economy and using alternative fuels, but also the optimisation of logistics and how real free circulation of freight in a European market would help both the economy and the environment.

Among the speakers were European Commission Vice-President Antonio Tajani, the CEOs of Daimler Trucks, Scania and DHL Express Europe, executives from Ikea and Veolia, and further high-level representatives from the European Commission, the Council and the European Parliament.

The event took place in the auditorium of the Cinquantenaire Museum in Brussels, Parc du Cinquantenaire 10.
