Study: thinking green not reflected in car use
20/09/07 - A survey commissioned by Ibuyeco, an eco-friendly UK car insurance company, revealed that 72% of residents in the UK feel to have become “greener” over the past year. This is, however, not reflected in the use of their cars. Of the people surveyed, 35% believes they will increasingly drive cars in the near future. The main reasons why most of the respondents consider it impossible to give up their vehicles are “work”, closely followed by “shopping” and “visiting family”. 75% also answered that public transport is not a viable alternative to car usage, due to time implications, delays, cost and lack of convenience. http://www.ibuyeco.co.uk
Company cars not green enough
21/09/07 - According to a survey by Consultants Bearing Point, green issues are failing to register on the agenda of company car fleet managers. The research finds in fact that as many as 77% of companies in the UK do not have a strategy in place to reduce business mileage, only 26% have installed new technologies able to reduce the need to travel, and a mere 10% of fleet managers stipulate low CO2 emissions levels when selecting company cars.
