Brussels, 24 April 2018 – In March 2018, new commercial vehicle registrations in the European Union declined by 2.5%, totalling 260,810 units. Demand fell across all commercial vehicle segments and in all major EU markets except for France (+7.7%).
The European Commission has proposed a review of Directive 2009/33/EC, the so-called Clean Vehicles Directive, which aims to increase the share of low- and zero-emission vehicles in contracts tendered by public authorities in the 28 EU member states.
In May 2018, the European Commission is expected to come forward with a legislative proposal on regulating CO2 emissions from new heavy-duty vehicles.
Brussels, 18 April 2018 – In March 2018 the EU passenger car market declined (-5.3%) for the first time this year, with registrations totalling 1,792,599 new cars – the first March drop since 2014.
Brussels, 16 April 2018 – The latest data shows that taxation on motor vehicles in the EU-15 is worth €413 billion annually – about three times the total budget of the European Union. This figure is up 4% compared with one year earlier.
