Last year, passenger car sales grew by 3.4% – bringing the total number of cars sold in the EU to 15.1 million. This is a significant milestone as the symbolic 15-million mark was passed for the first time since 2007. Indeed, the European automobile industry is on a pathway to recovery. But even as we are coming close to pre‐crisis figures again after a full decade, the situation remains fragile.
The European Commission presented its Clean Mobility Package on 8 November 2017. Besides a number of legislative and non-legislative initiatives, the Commission also launched an Action Plan on Alternative Fuels Infrastructure as well as investment solutions for the trans-European deployment of alternative-fuel infrastructure.
Brussels, 22 February 2018 – In January 2018, the EU market for new commercial vehicles started the year positively, after showing a decline in December 2017. Demand increased by 7.9% in the first month of the year, sustained by all commercial vehicle segments and with registrations totalling 187,811 units.
