This agreement is a great relief for European automobile manufacturers, allowing the sector to avoid the catastrophic effect of a no-deal Brexit.

Registrations of new cars declined by 7.8% to 953,615 units last month, as several European governments reimposed restrictions to battle a second wave of the coronavirus.
Brussels, 5 November 2020 – In the third quarter of 2020, almost one in 10 passenger cars sold in the EU was an electrically-chargeable vehicle (9.9%), compared to 3.0% during the same period last year. The support measures introduced by various countries to stimulate car demand amid the COVID-19 pandemic disadvantaged conventionally-powered vehicles. However, diesel and petrol together still accounted for more than 75% of total EU car sales from July to September.
